[Typically, if he's not in the same place as everyone else and someone wanted to find him, their best chance would be to head for the harbor. It's where he spends most of his time, it's where his ship is, it's where he's even been known to stay when he had nowhere else to go. The smell of the salt air has always been a reliable way of clearing his head.
As much as he wants to spend every waking moment (and a good number of the ones where he's not awake, too) with Emma, having just returned from the Underworld has left him with a lot of things that need clearing from his head. Memories of those he thought he'd never see again, and those he almost got to see again.
They'd all been celebrating at Granny's, now that everyone is back in town where they belong, even if there are more threats out there. There will always be more threats. He'd waited until Emma was surrounded by her family to sneak out on his own, down to the harbor like usual. There's a swing there that he's not sure anyone else has ever even noticed, and anyone who discovers he's missing from the party and comes looking for him will find him there.]
[Of course Emma would notice when Killian disappeared from Granny's. How
couldn't she? A part of her wanting to let him have time to himself and
another part of her wanting nothing more than to go off to find him. She
stays a little bit longer to appease the others before excusing herself.
There was only so much celebrating she could handle anyway.
He was a pirate so, of course, the first place she thought to go was the
harbor. After all, that's where his ship was. What she hadn't expected to
eventually find was a swing that she was pretty sure hadn't been there
before. She'd been down near this part of the harbor countless times, so
she's not sure when that was even put there.]
[It doesn't surprise him much when he hears her voice. After their reunion, it seems to him that she wouldn't want to be far from him for long; he knows how hard it was for him to leave the diner while she was still there.
And now they get time alone, just the two of them and the sea, the first time they've been alone since his return.
He pats the cushioned seat of the swing next to him.]
